Part 1 - Atlantis Rising
For Andrew Rossington what seems a chance meeting his physics professor over twenty years after turns out not to be chance at all. Professor Axel Sorensen had been old when Alex was in college, and was nearing the end.
He was in good health for his age, but at ninety-one there were no guarantees of even one more day. What the professor wanted was even more surprising. Andrew wondered if the old man had gone a little crazy as he told
of his theory, but he seemed as sane as ever. Except that he believed the lost continent of Atlantis was about to emerge from the ocean. Or at least something was. Whether it was Atlantis, or if Atlantis had ever
existed, he said, a very large land mass would soon rise from the north and central Atlantic. It seemed a fantastic story, but after a few days with the professor Andrew at least found it plausible. That Sorensen was
prepared to transfer an estate of several million dollars, with introductions to group of men of similar means and inclination to pursue the matter convinced him. At the worst he would be financially ahead of were he
was, and even a wild-goose chase could be enjoyed if one was paid well for it.
