Carolyn and Sharon were about the same age, mid-twenties when I arrived on the scene. Sharon was a teller and Carolyn was a teller in the note department. That was a little separate section, had a couple of tellers and a supervisor of some sort. Mainly they were there to take loan payments - you could to regular payments like for car loans at any teller window but a lot of customers came there, maybe if they had some other loan-related business. They also had a records vault with documents related to loans - back they banks had real estate loans and farm loans and such as people bought houses and got a loan from the bank and it was there at the bank until it was paid off. None of this selling the loan to some bank that would sell it and a bunch or other loans it bought to another and so on until a bunch of people owned little pieces of the loan and then one day there were millions of house loans in default and someone getting threatened with their house repossessed could demand proof that they owed the money and... that was interesting to watch. The love of money. Dunno why those two got to hanging together. Maybe being close to the same age, maybe both being married to preachers. Like a small businessman couldn't afford good insurance and got his wife a job at the bank and they - and the kids if they had any - was covered. Pretty good deal while it lasted. The fact that Sharon's hubby was a Baptist (small church in a small town - Twin Falls had one really big church of each of the big three or so Protestand denoms and of course just one big Catholic one) and Carolyn's was a Pentecost didn't bother them. Didn't bother most people what religion the people they was around was, or if they didn't practice any religion. I suppose if a professed devil-worshipper somehow got in and proselytized that would have caused a stir. Both was good-looking, Sharon in the 37-25-38 range, Carolyn more 36-24-36, maybe 35 on top. Both of them did the Farrah Fawcett hair when that thing came in but neither did it as well as the receptionist. That little chick was some kind of hot, near to being skinny and the naturally blonde other women hate them for. Anyhow they was two of the better-looking women there and didn't attract much attention with their behavior, being preacher's wives and all. The only gossip was about them apparently having possibly impure thoughts about a young loan officer that came to work there. Just out of college or maybe with a couple of years in some other bank. Not married by the way. I'm not much on judging men's looks - except that mine ain't much to brag about - but reckon he was decent-looking. They sure thought so. So there was the snickers and looks going around but that was about it. He was there a few years and later went to a bigger bank in a bigger town. Of course there was a party and all and they made over him and may have cried a little. Later I learned that he had in fact enjoyed both of them a time or three. Sharon got to spending a lot of time with another woman there, one a few years older than her and had a reputation for screwing around - might as well call it what is. Her husband was a management type with a big company and he got around as much as she did so I guess they was OK with it. Her two daughters were teenagers and already taking after their mom and got pretty wild by the time they were out of school. What she and Sharon were up to I have no idea - shopping trips out of town a lot. Carolyn found another object of desire - the collections officer. This wasn't the bourbon-swilling guy but a later one. Youngish, probably early forties. Carolyn would have been in her thirties by then and being in the loan department was around him a lot. After a while she had to work Saturdays a good bit and so did he. Most of the loan officers would come in on some Saturday mornings and do something, catching up on paperwork maybe. Anyhow Carolyn started coming in and they'd sit down in his office and talk a lot. I was upstairs working for a few hours and they got to where they would still be there when I left. I did say that her husband was the Pentecost preacher, didn't I? OK, I met him a few times, seemed like a pretty good guy. He and Carolyn had a kid, maybe about ten. Anyhow one day somebody told me Carolyn was divorcing her Pentecost husband. Now my experience with both Baptists and Pentecosts is there's some stuff goes on among Baptists (we're talking the small church type here) but there's quite a bit among Pentecosts. Or maybe the Baptists don't let on so much. Got the divorce done and she married the collections officer and all... well, there was this thing in the rule book. The one with bank policies, including personnel policy of course. Said two employees can't be married to each other so one of them was supposed to go. Bank president removed that rule. Didn't make some people happy, dunno why he did it. Neither one was anything special - they could put another teller over there and not much training would be required or the collections officer could go and they get another. There was the usual gossip about why he did it but I didn't worry about it - I could see myself leaving in the near future and was just deciding on which way to go. I was a little puzzled but he had reasons. He was in the middle of acquiring a controlling interest in the bank and played some games with people to get that done. I said Pentecost women I've known - not just Carolyn and her two sisters - could get kind of wild. Her older sister had been through two or three husbands and the younger had ditched at least one. She took up with another loan officer and ended up coming to work at the bank some time after Carolyn left. She was a hot little package and the best looking of the three. Married a loan officer there. Sharon continued working there and I learned later (after I had left) that the VP in charge of personnel (the guy that got beat up by the husband of the secretary he was banging) got to where he didn't like her and just up and fired her. She promptly went to work for a bank in Woodside. And that's all there is about Carolyn and Sharon, can't tell you more because fact is there ain't much more of interest.
