Brenda and Connie were a couple of young women - about four or five years older than me - working at Last Nasty when I arrived. Brenda was pretty decent looking, pleasant personality, not terribly smart but not dumb. Connie was plump and got plumper as time passed, not really much to look at and could get a little smelly at times even though she was always clean and had clean clothes. Just a problem some people have. Connie was recently divorced and Brenda was married to a guy that was inclined to fool around and they were separated a time or two during this time and later divorced. He sold used cars most of the time - rarely for the same dealer for very long. Brenda did some screwing around too and would later marry a loan officer who had worked there. His first wife was Brenda so... anyway he was at the time I worked there screwing his secretary who was a hot little piece. There was a young black boy who worked for the custodian and we used to talk a bit, he'd tell me when he came in after hours and caught one or the other or another of the guys banging their secretary. I don't know if Gerald (that was the name of the loan officer that would later marry Brenda) was doing her then or not - I suspected he was from the way they acted. Connie was the head bookkeeper and I worked in that department when I first got there - filing checks and answering phones and such. Back then people couldn't check their banking with their computer because they didn't have them and the banks weren't set up for it so they would call and ask the balance on an account or if a check had cleared, and we had to take the checks out of the file and put them in the statements and mail them. She and Brenda palled around some for reasons that weren't known to me. I wanted to bang Brenda but never lusted after Connie. Apparently few men did. Anyhow there were three old women in town, sisters, had a lot of money. Lived in a big house in what used to be a better part of town but wasn't any longer. None of them ever married and they lived there in that big house and came into the bank now and then to check on their money. Brenda and Connie got in a habit of brown-nosing them, driving them places as they got older, doing stuff for them. They admitted they were figuring to see of the old gals would leave them some money when they died. They didn't. Brenda was the one that got drunk - she did that a lot - and swiped the fancy touch-sensitive elevator buttons in the Union Planters building about twenty floors up and the elevator stopped at most of the floors on the way down. Full of drunk people that needed to piss. She was personable enough and most people liked her. I kind of liked her, enough to... nevermind. After I came back from the Air Force Connie and Brenda were still there - Connie was an assistant VP which you'll be if you stay there long enough. Still ran the bookkeeping department. Brenda was a teller and worked at a small branch that just had two people. Gerald had left the bank and was selling farm equipment or something and doing deals. The other gal at the branch was pretty friendly with Brenda and I had to go out there a couple of times a day and schmoozed with them a bit. Towards the end of my time there one day on a Saturday the operations boss and another officer or two went out to the branch with the other gal and counted the cash drawers. Monday we were advised that Brenda had left the bank to pursue other interests. Seems Gerald (they were married by then) was short on cash occasionally and Brenda was making short-term loans out of her teller drawer. She went to work for a local insurance company right away. I left soon afterwards. What happened to either - they'd be in their 70s now so probably retired. Not sure why I mentioned them.
