Alexander (Alex) Bradley Duncan: Nominally a mercenary but with principles. He works for both the Northern
Alliance and the Republic.
Money is a secondary factor as he is already quite wealthy. Nevertheless he is paid very large sums for his work and takes the opportunity to
acquire wealth along the way if it has been liberated from bad people. Having lost a close friend to the goons of the regime he cheerfully kills any enemy agent of any
rank at the slightest provocation.
Age fifty-eight, looks ten years younger. Height five feet nine, weight 170, stout build but with speed and agility. With extensive martial arts combined with military special
forces training he is deadly even unarmed and is proficient with many weapons. Always carries one or more knives, is expert with handguns and long guns.
Partial to 10mm pistols, 12-gauge shotguns and 7.62 rifles but is proficient with many types. Always has one or more small, easily concealable backup pieces.
Veteran of U.S. Air Force working as a linguist in intelligence. Speaks several languages (and numerous computer languages) and has considerable knowledge of
computer systems and networking with an emphasis on security. IQ tested at military enlistment 242, when a Rochberg-Samuels test was administered for verification he
tested 246. [1]
Hand-to-hand combat techniques are a combination of mixed martial arts and street fighting. Has trained with military special forces instructors. Since he
can only be found unarmed if he has been made prisoner
he rarely needs to engage unarmed for any longer than it takes to acquire a weapon. With a blade of any useful size he is at maximum lethality.
He has never been married (a common but unverified rumor is that he was engaged to be married and his fiancée died in an accident or assassination [2]) and has
relationships with a number of women, some more intense than others. The main one - Jessica Marshall - is an agent of the
Sapphire group and is involved in operating a network of safe houses. [3] She met Cassandra soon after her rescue from Zulu-6 and has a close relationship with
her.

Cassandra Last name unknown. Age fourteen when rescued by Alex from the Zulu-6 detention facility. Does not speak, has no signs of physical injuries
that would make speech impossible, it is believed mental trauma is the cause. Imprisoned, chained to a wall, repeatedly raped, beaten, and starved she was nearly insane
when rescued. Can hear and communicate by writing. A broken (and apparently untreated) index finger on the right hand makes writing difficult and is a useful identifying
feature. Refusing to be separated from Alex she accompanies him on all his missions. Has become proficient with firearms and knives and readily uses improvised weapons
when necessary. Described as being able to kill without batting an eye and has done so on numerous occasions. Fiercely loyal to and protective of Alex.
Five feet five inches, about 110 pounds. Slim, long black hair. May have some Hispanic ancestry. Favors small-framed .40 caliber pistols and 20-gauge shotguns with
#3 buckshot. While capable of accurately shooting a 12-gauge from the hip due to the weight and recoil she prefers the lighter guns. Proficient at throwing knives, has
had knife fighting training with noted League weapons masters. A medium-length short sword (e.g. wakizashi) has been employed on at least two occasions (Operation Silver
Rain and Operation Golden Paladin).
Jessica Marshall (a close friend of Alex) has assumed the role of a second guardian. On at least one occasion Cassandra agreed to be separated briefly providing
Jessica was with her. See Operation Red Salamander.
Apparel varies but generally is what Alex wears. Khaki/tan shirts with military-type trousers in shades of tan or olive. Sometimes wears a dark (usually black) turtleneck
if wearing a jacket. The jacket is usually an MA-1 design, a type preferred by Alex. Depending on the situation sneakers or light-weight hiking shoes are worn.

Jessica Anne Marshall Agent of Sapphire, a guerilla force operating in border areas of the Republic. Age 32, five feet six, 122 pounds. Shoulder length dark auburn
hair, blue eyes. Proficient with a variety of weapons and trained in unarmed combat by weapons masters of the League of Freeholds, the Republic and other resistance groups.

Sarah Jessica Fletcher
Younger sister of Myles Fletcher. Age 29, five eight, 124 pounds. Grey eyes, long tawny hair. Is in an intimate relationship with her older brother since they
were teenagers. Has a small group of occasional male partners (about a half dozen) and several female lovers. Decidedly heterosexual but makes allowances for a handful of
special friends. Myles is also firmly heterosexual but is aware of his sister's occasional same-sex dalliances and does not appear to disapprove. Despite an intense relationship with
his sister he has serious long-term relationships with several other women.
Main interests are socializing with friends and the usual entertainment - going to movies, parties, etc - and does not seem interested in politics or other socio-political matters.
Apparently quite intelligent and personable, has a large circle of friends in the area. Drives a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville identified as #12 from a pool of customized cars of the
same year and model reconditioned and modified at the Walker shops in Mesa, Arizona.
Sarah and Myles are heirs to a large fortune estimated at upwards of 20 million. Myles is involved with the Gold Dragon organization primarily as a liaison with other
Resistance factions. He attempts to shield his sister from the realities of the situation. Sarah spends most of her time in Jonesboro when she is not at his place.
Myles has several agents watching her at all times to thwart any efforts to harm her.

Mary Ann McFarland Special Agent ISD. Age twenty-seven. Degrees in political science and economics. Works with Sam.
Samuel Boling Senior ISD agent. Age sixty-one, five feet ten, 175 pounds. Sympathetic to the rebels and expects them to eventually win but
remains with the regime in hopes of mitigating the damage of its eventual fall. Twenty year Army veteran, infantry. Familiar with many types of weapons military
and non-military, formidable in unarmed combat and with knives or improvised weapons.

Jessica Atreides Marshall Born Jessica Anne Marshall, legally changed her name. Close friend (lover) of Alex Duncan, active in multiple resistance
groups. Age thirty-three, five feet seven, 125 pounds. Long black hair, grey eyes. Competitive gymnast in college, proficient with numerous weapons including edged
ones, fourth level adept in Syngwah-tai. Multi-engine and instrument certified pilot.

William Bonner One of the original Dead-Enders. Diagnosed with terminal cancer and having little time to live he volunteered for a suicide
mission but survived and evaded capture. After helping recruit and train a group of men in similar situations he undertook another mission, this time being
captured. Learning that he is terminally ill his captors imprison him and deny medical care. Six months later instead of being dead his cancer is in remission
and beginning to disappear. He is sent to a research hospital for study as his captors try to find a way to derive a cancer cure from him. After over a year he
is liberated in Operation Yellow Eye. Retired but sits as adviser on several committees at Central Command.

Pilot in III Corps. Close friend of Roger and Angie. Short dirty blonde hair, blue eyes, 5'6" 110 pounds.
Multi-engine jet and instrument certified, flies a Dragonfly II and has flown A-3 on several missions. Proficient with small arms and some hand-to-hand
training at Silverlake. Rumored romantic association with Alex Duncan and Myles Fletcher.
Lead pilot on Operation Cookie Crumbles and Operation Yellow Dryad. Aircraft (Dragonfly II) was damaged by SAM during Yellow Dryad and flew on one
engine to friendly airspace and landed without further damage.

Eleanor "Ellie" Montgomery Freelance operator. Age thirty-one, height 5'6", 120 pounds. Ash blonde hair, usually worn in a
ponytail, dark green eyes. Has often worked with Mantis and MASK. Pilot with a multi-engine jet rating. Proficient with
small arms of many types, favorite weapons are 10mm or .40 handguns and long guns in the .30 range when available. Hand-to-hand training
at Silverlake. Favors 12-gauge #2 and .45 ACP weapons for melee events and wakizashi with about 16" blade and a kobun at 9". Marine Corps Bowie
and commando daggers are other edged weapon favorites.

Mary Ann Ellis Part of Volvor group. One of he Marshall heiresses with a net worth of an estimated 3.6 billion.
Age 34, five-six 120 pounds, shoulder length ash blonde hair, dark green eyes. Owns several cars - her daily driver is a vintage
restored (1995) Lincoln Navigator. Occasionally drives a graphite 1972 Corvette Stingray and a 2000 Jeep Renegade. Owns several
late-model cars registered to a shell company. Significant other is Steven Garrison. From 2032-2039 (the the time Garrision was
in prison) oversaw his protection and operated several safe houses in the midsouth area. After Garrison was released from prison
he lived with her at her estate in rural northeast Arkansas. Moderately proficient with basic weapons - handguns, rifles and shotguns
but with little training in hand-to-hand or with improvised/unconventional weapons.
