Had a couple more cold days, excuse to stay inside. Kitty cat had babies this evening, looks like a couple of solid colors in there. Hafta wait and see what they look like. Got knocked up 'fore I could get her fixed. Going to vet near end of month, nothing more bad should happen before then. Not having a pregnant cat around be nice. Started reading these years ago, think I got to Fateful Lightning and got into my busy with work phase and didn't read as much for a few years. Pretty good, modern people get time/space-warped into a more primitive world. We're talking Civil War technology here, going up against ten-foot humanoids that eat regular humans. Forstchen is a history professor more recently known for One Second After. He's written a good bit of history (including an alternate Civil History with Newt Gingrich) and some SF. Think I'll try to run down the rest of the series and probably read the whole thing since it's been so long.
About to start Rage. Tomorrow evening, spend the weekend. Raining a lot and still cold so might as well hibernate a few more days. Old Charter, maybe do a Red Baron pizza in the new oven. These days it's half one day and half the next, especially since I'm not getting much exercise. Meant to put up a pic of the kittens, but might as well wait til their eyes are open and they runnin' around. Two light orange, one looks almost all black and one black with white feet. Couple mixed. Kittens are fun. New trees looking good, looks like 90% gonna make it, except for the pines. Turns out a little thinner may be better anyway as they get bigger. Finish trimming those bigass cedars out in the north corner and I'll photo them.
I keep forgetting about the second high-quality Alan Parsons live set in my library. It was released about three years ago and I was in a coma and it took a while to to
get interested in things after I woke up. The recording from German TV was in 2014 so it was a few years before ONS. I got a fair number of others but all are rather
inferior quality - these two are nice. Looks like here may be another I've missed. Nice that the new stuff is on DVD as well as CD. My only complaint is they're too
short. I know in an hour and a half you can just scratch the surface of the Project, which is why I routinely listen to the first ten (the last one doesn't really fit)
sometimes in alphabetical order and sometimes in chronological order.
Here's the setlists and personnel for these two:
Just learned that Mike Pinder has passed on. He was the last of the founding members, and I'd forgotten that Grameme passed a couple of years ago. He and Mike did pretty good, making it to 80 or better. Justin and John who came later are still with us. I would attribute it to clean living but don't know that to be the reason - plenty of those guys are in their 70s now and did a lot of the sex-and-drugs stuff. Apparently the Moodies did some of the drugs but I never heard how much, they just seemed to have a more clean-cut image like the Hollies. They did do the guru thing like the Beatles and whoever else was doing that back then. Dunno it that's still a thing or if it eventually faded. I still find myself puttin on one of their albums now and then, especially the early stuff (Days of Future Passed through Seventh Sojourn) but the later stuff is pretty good too. Have two or three nice live sets as well. Text in images Thursday 25 April 2024 21:06:27 1714097187 |
